19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard surfaces
A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The Russian, a ex- world number one, has experienced a difficult season, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in specific - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-term mentor his previous coach.
Now training with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set victory over opponent Moutet.
It is the player's maiden championship following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court after spring of the previous year.
Success also indicates Medvedev has achieved 21 titles at 21 different competitions.
"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters together, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my child her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, comprising in that event in the past months.
His defensive play style and recurring outbursts on court had prompted commentators to doubt if his capacity to perform at the elite level was over.
However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an improved serving game.
The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the final five points to go ahead.
The competitors traded service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden professional title, took control to create a final set.
Moutet rescued 4 early-game chances in a tight final set before the Russian won the break to 15 to serve for the match.
Suitably, Medvedev earned the win with a shot at the net area, with his opponent failing to control a volley after a lengthy match.
