Vehicles in German Town Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Officers reported they were contacted by a man who discovered a car in Hanau marked with reddish substance

Around 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.

Law enforcement state they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.

The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.

Law enforcement then found numerous other marked cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement report preliminary tests indicate the substance was most likely blood from a person.

"There is still no clue as to its origin; officials are presently not aware of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they stated.

Municipal representatives said they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the community for information.

An important political figure commented the attack left him without words and had to be addressed quickly.

"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing attack in 2020," he posted on online, mentioning the death of nine victims by a gunman targeting residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
